The Physiotherapist : a competent professional at your service
The physiotherapist has a scientific training at university level which allows him to bear the official title of State Certified Massage Therapist-Physiotherapist in Luxembourg. He practices his profession in close collaboration with other health professionals.
Physiotherapists work either as self-employed (independent) in private practices, or as employees in hospitals, institutions, rehabilitation centers, care facilities or establishments for the elderly.
The Luxembourg Association of Physiotherapists brings together approximately 75% of the physiotherapists authorized by the Ministry of Public Health to practice the profession. Its members commit to respecting the quality and practice standards in the field of physiotherapy and the code of ethics, published by the ALK.
The physiotherapist has the knowledge and skills to provide quality treatment in the therapeutic field, but also intervenes in the areas of well-being, prevention, leisure, fitness and aesthetics. Concerned with always being up-to-date regarding news and the latest developments in terms of exercise, the physiotherapist regularly improves through continuous training in Luxembourg or abroad.

Self-employed or employees
The majority of physiotherapists active in Luxembourg work in the liberal sector, that is to say, they have a physiotherapy practice in which they practice their profession as self-employed individuals.
Employed physiotherapists are, for the most part, engaged in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, home care and support networks, certain accommodation facilities for the elderly and facilities and services for people with disabilities.
