About ALK
The Luxembourg Association of Physiotherapists (ALK) was founded in 1990. It now has more than 1300 members and thus groups approximately 75% of the physiotherapists authorized by the Ministry of Public Health to practice the profession in the country.
It is represented by its Board of Directors, a committee of 9 active members (independent or salaried physiotherapists) elected for a period of 3 years at the annual general assembly.
Its members commit to respecting the quality and practice standards in the field of physiotherapy and the code of ethics, published by the ALK.
The main mission of the ALK is to defend the interests of the profession and to promote the quality of care by negotiating agreements with national institutions (Ministry of Health...) and competent authorities (CNS, CSCPS...).
Objects and goals of ALK
a) Grouping physiotherapists graduated and authorized to legally practice their profession in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (doctors, graduates, graduates, graduates or any other title recognized by the Ministry of Health of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg).
b) Ensuring the defense of the title and training of the different grades of physiotherapy and to ensure the safeguarding of their interests both material and moral or philosophical.
c) Ensuring their collective representation with the constituted authorities and social bodies.
d) Promoting the highest level of professional training of its members.
e) Protecting the grade and profession of the physiotherapist both salaried and liberal.
f) Studying the problems of physiotherapy by the methods of the most perfect objectivity and propagating the solutions.
g) Creating the legal order of physiotherapists: endowing the physiotherapist with a status of practitioner exercising the art of physiotherapy in a broad conception of the distribution of tasks within the practice of medicine and motor rehabilitation.
h) Representing and defending the interests of physiotherapists recognized in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg with the world organization of Physiotherapy called « World Physiotherapy ».
