Physiotherapy

The physiotherapist : a competent professional at your service

The Physiotherapist : An Essential Partner in the Care Pathway

The physiotherapist , far from being limited to the simple application of rehabilitation techniques, plays a central and complementary role to medical treatment within the Luxembourg health system. As experts in movement and function, our members are essential partners in the care of your patients, from common pathology to post-operative rehabilitation but also to the management of chronic pathologies.

1. Clinical Assessment: The Basis of a Targeted Treatment Plan

Based on your prescription, the physiotherapist carries out a precise and in-depth assessment: a detailed anamnesis, a postural analysis and an evaluation of functional deficits.

The goal is to identify the mechanical, neurological or musculoskeletal causes of the patient's symptoms and to establish an individualized treatment plan, adjusted to the patient's recovery goals and specific needs.

2. Varied and Specialized Therapeutic Approaches

Beyond classic rehabilitation techniques, the techniques used may include:

  • Orthopedic manual therapy: for the treatment of joint and musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
  • Neuromotor rehabilitation: for patients with neurological pathologies (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, etc.).
  • Manual lymphatic drainage techniques: in the management of lymphedema.
  • Vestibular rehabilitation: for the treatment of vertigo and balance disorders.
  • Uro-gynecological and perineal physiotherapy: for postpartum rehabilitation or the treatment of incontinence.

To this end, we invite you to discover the GIS (Special Interest Groups) whose aim is to develop networks of physiotherapists sharing common interests in different specific areas of rehabilitation.

3. Real-Time Monitoring and Adaptation

The physiotherapist ensures regular and rigorous monitoring of the patient's progress. According to the agreement between physiotherapists and the CNS, each session is done individually ( 1 patient at a time ) and lasts at least 20 minutes .

In the event of an unexpected development or the need to adjust treatment, we do not hesitate to contact you, as the prescribing physician, to discuss the best path forward.

Prescription and Medical Collaboration

Collaboration between doctors and physiotherapists is central to successful treatment. To ensure optimal therapeutic effectiveness and compliance with the legal framework, clear prescriptions and fluid communication are essential.

1. The Legal Framework of Prescription

The medical prescription is the starting point for all physiotherapy treatment in Luxembourg.

All information on medical prescriptions can be found in the section : Practical information for doctors

2. Interprofessional Communication for Optimal Monitoring

We encourage open and regular communication between the physician and the physical therapist. By sharing our observations, we can proactively adjust the treatment strategy.

  • Progress report: Upon request, the physiotherapist can send you a detailed report on the patient's progress. This report includes progress made, difficulties encountered, and any changes to the treatment plan.
  • Direct exchanges: We remain at your disposal for telephone or email exchanges to discuss complex cases or a need to redirect care.

In short, a clear prescription and active collaboration help optimize the patient's care pathway. It is through this partnership that we guarantee quality care and increased efficiency.
